It's in USA Today; what more do we need?
The number of Americans living in poverty rose by 1.1 million to 37 million last year.
The four-year increase in poverty under President Bush is the worst since his father was in office. The poverty rate rose for five years from 1989 to 1993, as it had from 1979 to 1983.
For the first time, the wealthiest 20% of Americans accounted for more than half of all household income, up from 49.8% in 2003. And much of their income, such as capital gains, is not measured by the [Census Bureau] survey.
Over at Jeremy's the other day, he said:
On a busy corner this weekend as I drove by, there were a handful of older folks holding signs.
I craned my neck to see what they said: "End The War". Uh-huh, okay, I'm with you buddy. But the next one has stuck with me since. It said "FIND The Course".
