| This place nearing completion was deep in the woods, and I doubt if any of us could ever find it again. Wild men Turko Semmes and Greg McMillan were the builders, if memory serves. Those two were the fantastic hosts for the whole gang one night of the tour. |

| This was a peaceful, interesting, well-built place. High-end stuff, principally because of the level of the interior finishing. Rene comments: "The Warkentin House - designed by David Arkin; engineering by Bruce King; earth floors by Skillful Means. Here again I was impressed with the tiny Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired bathroom. And imagine having the study as your working office - really beautiful, what a view. |

| The fabled Hip Roof, it bears evenly on all four sides making it structurally optimal for load-bearing straw-bale buildings. It's more difficult to achieve than a shed roof, but don't let that scare you. Think of the feeling of accomplishment you'll have, not to mention the valuable experience. |
