The back side of the studio. This picture shows the 90# roofing felt in place around the bottom 3 feet of the entire building to protect from splash. Note the wide overhangs. The 6-inch pvc pipe brings air into the draft on the wood stove.

Bale Party Tonight! We had a get-together for folks in the area to give them a little hands on experience with strawbale and possibly generate some interest. Cher and I had most of the bales already in place, with just enough work left (blocking an eave, doing a corner) to give an example. It was the night of a full moon; we cooked with solar ovens, played acoustic music, and took the hay rack with the remaining bales for a ride (with drums and other percussive instruments) through the Smoky Hills State Forest, which encompasses our land. Two weeks later we had a stucco party to do the exterior scratch coat.

How the studio looks in the summer. The trellis over the glazing keeps summer sun out and provides a space to grow hops.
